Bruce DenisArtist and Photographer More than 10 years studying light and photography through film and digital media. In 1979 I picked up my first 35mm camera, an Olympus OM-1. The compact eloquence of precise machine was exhilarating. And when the images came back from processing I was hooked. It was the beginning of a love affair with photography that has seen the introduction of auto-exposure, auto-focus, digital imaging, computer processing, and many other changes. Today I continue to learn, expand my experience, a pursue a mastery of this craft, an understanding of the science, and grasp of the art.
I enjoy creating photos that share the expressions of people and the world around us. Many of my images share the rich excitement found in first impressions. Do you remember the first time you tasted a chili pepper? Watched the sunrise over the ocean? Looked down from a mountain into valleys below? Held a newborn child? Those are the first impressions that never leave us, their mark is indelible and they can change our lives. To capture that impression and preserve it visually is how I approach photography.
